Benjamin Moore Paint
to Sell House Smart

Selecting the perfect Benjamin Moore paint color ("BM") that sells house smart is as close as - your Pottery Barn catalog or store.

Beyond Real Estate beige, what choices do you have to sell house smart? Manufactureres and retailers are selling smart-er, by offering sneak peaks at paint color, free technique classes, etc.

For Fall 2007, Pottery Barn features BM paint colors throughout their catalog. So what? This is a great way to see the whole picture, so to speak, of wall color interacting with furniture: paint, stain and/or fabric.

Pottery Barn offers at their stores a free fan of BM paint colors. Or for $2 they will mail one to you. Call 1-800-922-5507 (item number 67-9468125). Note: these paints are sold exclusively through your local authorized BM dealer.

For an online look at Benjamin Moore paint colors, go to www.potterybarn.com and type "colors" in the search box. To see a page-by-page list of BM paints used in the Pottery Barn catalog, go to www.potterybarn.com/stylehouse and click on the Catalog Paint Guide.

The Best of BM Paint Color to Sell House Smart

Let's talk color. Cornsilk (#198) [Corn silk] or Concord Ivy (#HC-12) are strong choices. Neutral but not boring beige. Remember, you need some color on your neutral walls to contrast with trim.

Of the colors featured by Pottery Barn October 2007, we suggest:

Squire Hill Buff (#1068) The palest option we recommend; or

Brookline Beige (#HC-47) No darker than this!

Hawthorne Yellow (#HC-4) Tastefully pale yellow.

Roasted Sesame Seed (#2160-40) A beautifully rich gold that we highly recommend!

Note: the remaining BM paint colors featured by Pottery Barn are too bright, too specific . . . too personal to sell house smart.

If you are prepared to re-paint before you sell your house, fine. If not, select wonderfully warm neutrals (and avoid blue, red, burgundy, etc.).

Featuring Benjamin Moore Paint
As a premium brand, BM paint is an investment that is impressive to prospective buyers. So play it up!

Benjamin Moore paint is known for quality, durability (easy to clean) and longevity (lack of fading allows for paint touch ups to match - years later!).

Your real estate agent should include BM paint in the house description when marketing your property.

The Best Price

Let's talk price. Do not purchase the cheapest paint simply because it costs the least. Labor is expensive (whether it is your sweat equity or the bill you receive from professionals).

The cheapest paint provides the worst coverage, requiring more coats of paint - that is, more product and more labor and more hassle, all of which is NOT smart.
